Clinical context: challenges in wound progression

When to review a wound pathway
- If healing has not progressed within approximately two weeks
- If repeated dressing changes are required without improvement
- If the wound shows limited response to the current antimicrobial strategy
Follow current instructions for use, local protocols and clinical judgement. Seek appropriate assessment when a wound deteriorates.
Dressing frequency
Stalled wounds may require more frequent dressing changes.
Review appointments
Non-healing wounds can increase the need for repeat clinical reviews.
Clinical workload
Delayed healing can contribute to a sustained service and time burden.
