Key findings

  • Resident 1 (81-year-old man; heel ulcer 4.2 × 4 cm probing to bone): bone was no longer exposed within 15 days, the heel healed by 1 June and it stayed intact over the following 13 weeks.
  • Resident 2 (94-year-old man; MRSA-positive ulcer at the base of the spine, 9.5 × 7 cm): reduced to 3 × 4 cm by 5 August, and a repeat swab showed MRSA had cleared from the wound.
